I think it was Satan... I'm not so sure about that one.
in my opinion, american literature rather sucks in the poetry department. there are some good authors however...nathanial hawthorne was writing about the same time as poe...and i find his stuff spookier than any of that drivel poe wrote.
but classically...my heart is with the brittish...more of a romantic period i guess...

H.P. Lovecraft: He was best known for his horror stories, but has grown to becoem one of the most accredited gothic poets of all time. You should have no problem finding information about him, and being that he has a VERY twisted life story he should make for a very interesting subject.

As did H.P. Lovecraft. He far from sucked, however. He's a bit too "dark" for me though. I only know about him because this kid in my Bio class was telling me about him on a cig break one day and I was curious enough to look into it a bit.

They say I'm disturbed. Well, of course I'm
disturbed. I mean, we're all disturbed. And if we're not, why not? Doesn't this
blend of blindness and blandness want to make you do something crazy? Then why
not do something crazy? It makes a helluva lot more sense than blowing your
fucking brains out. -Mark Hunter
